The Australian Flammability Monitoring System, which will enhance bushfire preparedness across Australia.
Fire Australia Issue Three 2018 is now available online with updates from core CRC research projects including coastal erosion, Indigenous fire training and a fire mapping tool.
The Australian Flammability Monitoring Index, developed by Dr Marta Yebra from the Mapping bushfire hazards and impacts project will allow fire managers to better plan for the upcoming bushfire season. The interactive mapping tool provides live data on the soil moisture content in highly flammable fuels, which means fire managers can use this information to plan for their prescribed burns and allocate firefighting resources.
