This project was commissioned and funded entirely by the Safer Together program.

This project analysed climate datasets from 1972 to 2017 to assess how prescribed burning windows have changed over the last 45 years. The research is for the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and the Country Fire Authority.

It analysed and collated evidence on the average number of days and hours that a prescribed burn can take place in a given area, helping to inform how the Department and the Country Fire Authority can conduct prescribed burning in the future.

The research information helps to better optimise the planning and delivery of fuel management programs.
