If you’re a current Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC PhD student or early career researcher, you still have time to go in the running to win a great prize through the CRC Association’s Early Career Researcher Showcase. Please note that there have been some changes to the deadline and showcase format, as detailed below.
Sponsored by CQUniversity, the showcase celebrates good research that has been communicated well. It’s a great opportunity for PhD students and early researchers to practice communicating their work to a wider audience.
The CRC Association announced that Collaborate Innovate 2020, where finalists were to present their research, has been postponed due to interruptions from COVID-19. However, the CRC Association have decided to go ahead with the Early Career Researcher Showcase, switching to an online format so that students and researchers still have the opportunity to present.
The deadline for video submissions has also been extended. Those wishing to submit a 30-second submission video are now able to complete this in May (exact date still to come), rather than the original deadline of 9 April.
Videos from five finalists, chosen by the CRC Association, will receive $1000 and the opportunity to give a five-minute presentation (now to be presented online in June). The winner will win a further $5000.
Further details about how to vote on finalist’s videos will be made available shortly via the CRC Association. If you would like to keep in touch about the showcase or any other details, please contact the CRC’s Research Program Support Officer, Nick Mahony.
The CRC can assist you with your video entry by providing feedback and support, so please let us know if you are interested in participating. Previous CRC students have had success with their submissions, with Dr Korah Parackal making the finals in 2018.
